Planter Clinic

Event Dates

  • Thursday, 02/08/2024 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Event Description

Join fellow farmers and learn how others have successfully setup their planters for high residue systems.

The event will start off with a panel of 6 farmers from across Dane County. Farmers will share information on their planter setups along with their planting situation; how much residue they're dealing with, how they apply nitrogen during planting, and challenges and successes in planting in high residue systems.

Following the farmer panel, a hot lunch will be served.

After lunch, hear from John Gaska, Research Support for the Conley program at UW, and Brian Luck, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist with UW Biological Systems Engineering. The two will review optimum planter setup for no-till and cover crops.

To close out the program, representatives from Copperhead Ag, Martin-Till, Precision Plant, and Yetter will share introductory information on the products they provide and attendees are free to visit with after-market representatives and visit the "Ask an Expert" table to seek answers to their planter setup questions and check out a collection of closing wheels.

This event is hosted in collaboration with Biological Farmer Friends, Dane Demo Farms, Farmers for the Upper Sugar River, and Yahara Pride Farms.
